The application of blended learning in the e-learning teaching process

Blended Learning is being reconsidered as the most promising solution that combines traditional learning with a variety of new delivery technologies, such as computer-based learning, web-based seminars and cooperation learning, among others. However, how to choose the mix of delivery methods for the best training performance according to different teaching conditions and learners is an important topic.

This article introduces the experiences of implementing e-learning and blended learning in Shanghai Jiaotong University. Specifically, the short message system and the self-organized community are twomethods thateffectively blend different learning models. The short message system is developed and applied in the distance teaching process and has proven to be an effective mode that blends e-learning and traditional learning. The real-time interaction between teachers and learners has also been implemented effectively through the short message system. Moreover, the self-organized community is designed based on the personalized recommendation algorithm to blend independent learning and cooperation learning effectively.
